GRADE" COFFEES
There is without a doubt, a significant
difference between "Specialty Grade" and the
others. Specialty Grade coffees represent
the top 5% of the world's production. We
believe that our Customers deserve the very
best this world can offer so we will never
compromise our pledge to bring you quality
coffees.
We at "The Bay" use as our
benchmark, the Coffee Grading System"
established by the
Specialty Coffee Association of America".
The system ranks coffees from "Specialty" to
"Off-grade" and obviously, the higher the
grade, the better the cup of coffee. Don't
be fooled by the big chains and their use of
the word "specialty". There is only one
grading system and very few, true Specialty
Roasters.

Gourmet verses Specialty
Also be careful of the term "Gourmet
Coffee". Gourmet can mean many things... it
is NOT a statement of quality. If you want
the finest coffees the world has to offer,
seek true "Specialty Grade" from a reputable
roaster... a roaster who is an "Artisan
Roaster".
Artisan Roasting

"coffee purists" and "Artisan Roasters".
Artisan Roasters approach their craft not
unlike Vintners who produce the finest wines
in "small-batches" and Distillers who create
a "single barrel" whiskey. The concept is
the same for Coffee Roasters, Vintners, and
